As we hit the shops to prepare and shop for Christmas we must take care. The high street will be getting busier by the day in the run up to Christmas. With the streets becoming busier and the weather becoming worse we must remember to take extra care when out braving the crowds, so as not to trip or slip on the high street.
There are people who are in charge of maintaining the quality of the pavements and roads in our towns, such as the local authority or local council. These organisations have a duty of care to maintain the pavements and roads to such a standard that the possibility of someone sustaining an injury is kept to a minimum.
In many circumstances, if you have sustained an injury as a result of a trip or slip on a pavement you may have a claim for compensation. This is provided that it can be proven your injury was sustained as a result of the poorly maintained pavement. The cause of your trip or slip, be it a protruding pavement slap for example, must be seen to be of such a size that it should have been correctly maintained and fixed, to avoid injury.
f you have sustained an injury of this type it is important to take photographs of the cause of your injury, often with an object in the photograph that will convey the size of the poorly maintained pavement.
If you have been involved in a pavement trip or slip and would like us to assess the eligibility and circumstances surrounding of your claim call 0800 634 75 75.
