As specialist Personal Injury Lawyers we deal with all kinds of Personal Injury claims. One type of claim we deal with is CICA claims, also known as Criminal Injury Compensation Association claims. These types of claims are for victims of assault, shootings, attacks and many other violent acts.
A lot of us don’t realise what kind of issues can be caused by Facebook. A recent story from the Independent reads; “A 16-year-old boy who fatally stabbed a former friend over a “loss of face” after they traded insults on Facebook was detained for at least 14 years today.” source
CICA claims are run via a free service provided by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority and are there to provide help to people who have been victims of violent crimes.
How to apply:
If you have been a victim of a violent crime there are three different ways you can apply to the CICA for help:
1) Through victim support. This is a charity who offer help to people who have been subject to violent crimes. The way to apply here is to simply fill in the CICA form with the help of victim support.
2) By post- you can apply by simply downloading the form off the internet and filling it in then send to the address given on the web site.
3) This is the BEST option we believe- Representation. This means that a firm of Independent Specialist Solicitors’ can represent you. The benefit of doing it this way is that you have a professional on your side and we won’t settle a claim for the minimum we will aim to achieve the maximum compensation you deserve.
