Whiplash Symptoms and Claims

Whiplash is not a nice injury to suffer from. It generally occurs after a road accident, but can also occur after a slip or a fall.

Whiplash is caused by the sudden jolting of your neck beyond its normal range of movement – this effectively stretches the muscles, ligaments, and tendons, and can result in anything from minor neck pain for a few days, to months and months of agony and pain.

The more common symptoms of whiplash:

  • Pain and stiffness in the neck – often radiating down in the shoulders, back, and arms.
  • Reduced or no movement in the affected areas
  • Headaches, nausea, and sometimes blurred vision.
  • Pins and needles  – normally in the arms.
  • You can claim for all of the above

The symptoms often don’t become apparent until sometime after the accident – perhaps 6 – 12 hours, or even a couple of days. A few days after the accident, if you wake up in pain and feeling any of the symptoms above, you have likely started the painful and inconvenient journey of the whiplash injury.

The symptoms normally get progressively worse over time – so treatment is normally recommended to help you get back to normal.

Whiplash Claims

If the accident you were involved in was not your fault, you are entitled to make a claim for your whiplash injury, and further injuries sustained, and any losses you have incurred as a result of the accident.

Whiplash is a more complicated injury than most people think – it’s difficult to predict how long you may be suffering for; especially in the early stages. There is no real ‘cure’ so to speak for whiplash; the best thing you can do (according to the medical authorities nowadays) is keep active and moving (yes, I know this is easier said than done!), and get some physiotherapy or similar treatment to assist with speeding up the recovery.

Ideally, you should instruct an independent specialist firm of personal injury lawyers to deal with your claim on a Genuine No Win No Fee basis.

With a Genuine No Win No Fee and a proper personal injury lawyer, you enjoy:

  • 100% compensation – no deductions, no hidden charges.
  • You pay nothing if the case loses – we take on the risk of your claim based on how confident we are that we can win – i.e. we only ever take on a claim if we think we will win it, so we don’t expect to lose, and can offer the No Win No Fee to safeguard you from any costs in the event this happens.
  • Private Medical Care – at no cost to you, regardless of whether the case wins or not (although not all firms will do this).
