‘‘x’ law firm have said they will take 25% of my compensation upon winning my claim’.
‘‘y’ law firm said that if it goes to court and I lose I will have to pay the court costs’.
Many clients think that these are the necessary risks and costs of making a personal injury claim. I am here to inform them and you that this simply need not be the case if you choose the right law firm from the outset of the claim.
With the right law firm you should benefit from:
100% of your Compensation – Compensation is meant to put you in the position you would have been in had the accident not have happened. This is why at The Injury Lawyers, and many other reputable law firms, we do not deduct anything from your compensation – it is your injury, so it is your compensation.
No costs for you to pay – Many law firms such as The Injury Lawyers do not bill clients for their costs (i.e. the costs of their time working on your case). If they win your case, these costs get recovered from the other side, and if your case is lost, the law firm may have insurance in place to cover some of their losses. You should also check that their costs are restricted to what can be claimed back from the other side. Solicitors costs are not guaranteed in full and you do not want them to come to you for any remainder.
Service standards – Before instructing a law firm you should check what client care policies and service standards they have in place for you. If they do not have anything in place, this may tell you a lot about the firm. Policies that you may want to look out for can include, for example, returning client calls and e-mails within 24 hours, or updating you on the progress of your case every 2 weeks. This takes the stress from you chasing for information and feeling out of the loop with the progress of your case.
Extras:
Some law firms like to set themselves aside by offering a fuller service. These services can include arranging private medical treatment at no cost to you, or arranging for your vehicle to be repaired, and hire car needs sorted after a road accident.
