We’re already taking on cases for victims of Mr Desmond D’Mello who was secretly filmed by a whistle blower ignoring important NHS infection control procedures; putting thousands at risk of serious diseases like HIV and Hepatitis.
Recent press sources from the NHS have confirmed that more than 2,000 people have contacted the advice line and been for testing for blood-borne viruses that D’Mello could have exposed them to. Our own sources have indicated that patients face a potentially lengthy and agonising wait for help and results.
We’ve been down to the Arnold Health Centre which has been established as a drop in clinic for patient advice and testing. We’ve been told by some of our own clients that there are waits of more than 2 hours as floods of people have visited the centre for advice and help.
The NHS are advising people that the risk is low and that people should not rush down and overburden the services working there. NHS sources have also informed us that the clinic is set to remain open for a period of around five weeks and there should be adequate numbers of staff to deal with the volume of people affected.
With Mr D’Mello having reportedly treated around 22,000 patients for a period of 32 years, advising and testing those affected is a massive operation that remains in its infancy. There has never been a recall scandal of this nature and magnitude in the UK ever before, and its set to put a real strain on the NHS in coping with the volumes of people who are in need of help and testing.
Mr D’Mello is reportedly no longer cooperating with the NHS investigations, despite him reportedly confirming he would assist. We’re advised he has now instructed lawyers.
As many thousands of patients face an agonising wait for testing and results, we’re here to help with expert legal advice and representation for those who wish to obtain justice for their exposure to infection at the hands of Mr D’Mello – a man who has been dubbed the ‘Dirty Dentist‘ by the tabloids.
You don’t have to have contracted an infection to claim – you may have a case in any event, and we’re urging those who wish to seek justice to call us as soon as possible on 0800 634 7575.
As a firm of expert injury lawyers, we have particular expertise in medical negligence cases and ‘Group Action’ compensation claims. We represent a large proportion of the PIP Breast Implant scandal from 2011, and the volume of cases we’re looking at taking on will likely follow a similar course of action.
