We’re acting for many former patients of Mr Desmond D’Mello who has been labelled the ‘Dirty Dentist’ by media sources after a whistle blower secretly filmed him ignoring important infection control procedures on patients.
We are now in the midst of a recall of a scale and nature that has never been seen before – 22,000 former patients are being asked or testing to see if they have been the victim of serious infections like HIV and Hepatitis.
But as we take on more and more cases on a daily basis, we’re getting reports of potentially related problems.
Failing to wash his hands; reusing gloves; using unsterile equipment; and storing equipment in toilets are the primary allegations that the former Daybook Dental Surgery practitioner is facing. This sort of activity has potentially put thousands of innocent patients at risk of blood-borne infections, and whilst test results are coming back as negative for many of our clients so far, we are getting reports of ailments that may be linked to poor hygiene practices.
Its early days in to the investigations, and we cannot tell at present whether there are any links – but several former patients who are now clients of ours have reported often getting cold sore flare-ups, mouth ulcers, and general illnesses after visiting D’Mello for treatment and checkups. Given what we now know about his lack of respect for NHS infection control procedures, there might be a link.
We have also been advised that unsterile dental equipment can put you at risk of serious neurological diseases as well.
We are specialising in fighting for justice for those affected by the scandal and we have specialist dental negligence barristers on hand who are prepared to review former patient records to identify whether causes of treatment and advice given by D’Mello has been incorrect. We have been advised that a man who is prepared to ignore such basic procedures may have a hidden past of poor treatment plans where patients may have suffered unnecessarily and don’t even know it.
Whether you have received the all clear when it comes to results, or even where you have never had any previous problems as a patient of Mr D’Mello, you are urged to contact our specialist Daybrook Dental Negligence Team for help and advice.
