Can a UK lawyer fight your accident abroad claim?

The short answer is: yes!

It does however depend on a number of factors like where the accident happened; how it was caused; and perhaps most importantly, how your trip abroad was arranged.

The most common example of a claim where you can ask a UK lawyer like us to fight for the accident claim is where you are injured as part of what is classed as a package tour holiday.

You still do need a specialist lawyer with expertise in helping people claim for compensation for accidents abroad though!

Defining a package holiday

Typically a package holiday that may allow you to claim is where you are injured in circumstances directly linked to the package, and where the holiday was sold as a package with two or more elements. For example, if you slip in a hotel and the hotel was booked as package with flights and transfers, you may have a valid package tour claim.

The hotel, in being a part of the package, means it can be covered. What you do here is pursue the claim with the package tour provider. If the provider is situated in the UK then we can apply UK law.

It’s important to know though that, although we are using UK law, the law in terms of local standards can still apply. Not all countries out there have good heath and safety standards as we do!

Is it easy to claim for an accident abroad?

If we can apply UK legislation against a UK company, like we can here in the package tour example, then it can be as simple as any other usual type of claim.

We need to highlight again that you still require a specialist lawyer with experience in helping people claim compensation for accidents abroad though, because the local standards aspect can be a tricky one.
