Is it just me or have you noticed the dark nights creeping in? The last time I looked it wasn’t getting dark until 10pm at the earliest. However in the past week or so it’s started getting darker around 8.30pm. This can only mean one thing… Winter is just around the corner. Not only does this mean we’re going to have to dig out last season’s sweats to keep us warm on those cold winter mornings, it also means that we’re going to have to take extra care on the roads.
A lot of drivers, my mum been one of them, don’t feel as comfy when using the roads in the dark. This means that when it starts getting dark at 4pm drivers maybe more unsteady than normal.
It’s the hint of fear like not been able to see what’s coming towards you that worry’s some drivers. I personally find it more difficult to judge the distance between myself and other cars when it’s darker.
Winter is often the worst time for traffic jams, because as we all know the weather has a huge impact on driving conditions. We probably all had this drilled into us on our driving lessons, but just in case any of you forgot when roads are wet, or icy this can affect our stopping distance.
I’m not some driving expert trying to give lessons on how to drive, It’s just these dark, icy nights give me another reason to hate winter.
