There are many law firms out there in the legal market all competing for your business. Not only this, there are also many referral agents out there hoping to take your claim and refer it to a law firm for a fee. With all this choice, there is no wonder that people can get confused as to which firm is right for their claim. This is why I am writing this blog – I hope to inform you about a few things you should look for in a law firm to see if they are right for you and your claim.
There are some items which are extremely important to keep a look out for when you are choosing which solicitor to take your claim to – I have listed some of these below:
- 100% of your compensation – you should ensure that you will receive all of your compensation if you are successful with your claim. This means that there are absolutely no deductions – guaranteed, in black and white. No ‘ifs’ no ‘buts’.
- No costs for you – you should ensure that whether you win or lose your claim, there will be ‘no solicitors‘ costs for you to pay. If you win your claim, then the other side should pay the solicitors costs, and they should be restricted to what they recover. If you lose your claim, there should be insurance in place to cover the losses of the law firm, and no costs for you to cover at all.
- Service standards – you firstly should check if the law firm have a good practice of standards in place – if not, this may tell you a lot about the firm. If they have these policies, then ask about them. These could be policies such as returning client calls within 24 hours or updating you on your case every 2 weeks.
In addition to this, they are also many added extras that law firms will do for clients in order to set themselves out from the crowd. These include arranging:
Vehicle repairs and hire – some good law firms will arrange for your car to be repaired if damaged as a result of your accident – plus any hire vehicles you may need could also be organised.
Early medical intervention – some law firms will be able to arrange treatment at the very early stages of your claim at no cost to yourself. This treatment could include physio, osteopathic, or assistance from a chiropractor.
If you have any further questions regarding your claim and/or which law firm is best to choose feel free to give us a call.
