What to do
- Seek medical advice – if you have not already done so. A good record in your medical notes of attendance to your GP or a Hospital / Walk in Centre is important for claiming. Make sure you advise medical staff as to exactly how the accident happened so this is documented in your medical records.
- Report the accident to whoever you believe responsible – such as the management of a supermarket, or your employer if it happened at work. If it’s a road accident, your lawyer is probably better off reporting it on your behalf as its far easier to do, and can lead to complications if you get wrapped up in insures ways of trying to deal with personal injury claims
- Secure any evidence – such as making a formal request for CCTV footage if you know there is some that might have documented the accident, or taking photos of a defect or hazard that caused your injury.
- Record your losses – if you start to lose earnings or have to spend money on travel to and from appointments or pay for medication, keep receipts and invoices as these can be claimed back as part of a compensation case.
- Get a lawyer – instruct a specialist personal injury lawyer working on a Genuine No Win, No Fee basis for the claim. This means you will receive 100% of your payout in the shortest possible time; but make sure they can prove this with high quality levels of service like we do. In fact, you’re probably better off just getting in touch with us!
