Sources from the BBC have confirmed that two people have been injured at Malton’s famous Flamingo Land park when they were struck by a loose section of a roller coaster whilst queuing for a ride.
The police and Health and Safety Executive are investigating the incident which saw a 15 year old girl taken to hospital and a 26 year old female receiving treatment on site by paramedics. The ‘Hero Ride’ as the attraction involved has been taken out of action pending the investigation.
Aging roller coaster’s can be dangerous, but the Hero Ride in question here was only introduced in 2013. In any event, health and safety at theme parks like Flamingo Land should always be an absolute priority because there is obviously so much that can go wrong.
In places where there are obvious dangers there is a greater duty of care to prevent people being injured. Whilst reports have yet to confirm how this has managed to happen, it is certainly a matter that injured victims should pursue compensation for should they choose to. Insurance is there to cover injured victims, and from a law firm who has taken on and won a lot of claims for people injured at fairgrounds and theme parks, we know how to judge the viability of a claim.
