According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), hundreds of double cream products are being recalled due to low levels of Listeria monocytogenes being found in a number of pots. Those recalling products are so far confirmed to be Muller Wiseman Dairies, Iceland, Sainsbury’s and Aldi.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause food poisoning especially in vulnerable groups like pregnant women, unborn and newborn babies, the elderly, and anyone with reduced levels of immunity.
The list of products affected as part of the recall is as follows:
- Müller Wiseman Dairies pasteurised Double Cream (300ml) – ‘Use by’ date: 2 September 2015
- Iceland Double Cream (284ml, 10oz) – ’Use by’ date: 2 September 2015
- Sainsbury’s SO Organic British Double Cream (300ml) – ‘Use by’ date: 2 September 2015, Batch code: 01716184
- Aldi McCallums Scottish Double Cream (300ml) – ‘Use by’ date: 2 September 2015, Product code: 43090
Hundreds of pots are thought to have been distributed, and anyone who has bought an affected product is being advised to return it to where they purchased it from, and of course you are advised not to consume the product.
