Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, and Morrison’s recall potato products that may contain metal

Just days after the recall of several Tesco and Sainsbury’s potato salad and coleslaw products was announced, the Food Standards Agency have now confirmed that a significant number of other products containing potato from a single supplier may contain metal.

Anyone who has bought these products is being urged not to eat them and return them as soon as possible – read on for advice about the products affected and legal advice for injuries caused.

Products Affected

The following Sainsbury’s products have been recalled all with use by dates running up to 21st May 2015 :

Morrison’s and Waitrose products that are a part of the recall are as follows:

  • Waitrose Creamy, Golden Smoked Haddock in Cheese Sauce, 400g – Use by dates of 13th May 2015, 14th May 2015 and 15th May 2015
  • Morrison’s Carrot & Swede Mash, 500g – Use by dates: 12th May 2015 to 16th May 2015 inclusive

How has this happened?

According to the FSA the initial investigations have revealed that a piece of equipment has broken during manufacturing which has led to the potato batch in question being contaminated with pieces of metal from the equipment. As you can see from the list above and our recent blog about similar products recalled for the same reasons, there a large number of products that have been affected which means the risk of injury could be significant.

What if I have been injured?
