Brick Lane in London is being used as a pilot scheme to make it safer for pedestrians to make text messages and calls on there mobile phones while avoiding injury from the many every day hazards located within the street itself.
The scheme which is being funded by 118 118 has padded up all the street furniture such as lampposts, bollards, street signs, bus stops etc … to stop the busy pedestrians from injury while using there phones.
The injuries labeled as “walk n’ text” street injuries amount to 6.6 million accidents in Britain last year. If the pilot scheme is successful it may be rolled out across the UK.
