Accidents Outside Schools

The roads outside schools can be extremely dangerous around the beginning and end of each school day. People park anywhere they can get, often double parking making it a nightmare for passing vehicles. It also makes it difficult for pedestrians when crossing the roads.

When driving outside a school you should keep your speed to an absolute minimum as there’s no way of knowing if a child’s going to suddenly run out in front of your vehicle. It’s likely that you won’t be able to see who’s behind parked vehicles, there may be children waiting to cross.

Unlike adults, children are not as aware of the danger of running out in front of vehicles, so are likely not to think twice before running out. All schools should have a lollipop person on duty, waiting to assist children when crossing the road.

Accidents in Tanning Salons

The use of tanning salons especially amongst young people is becoming more and more popular. A lot of us think that a tan looks healthy and beautiful, which may be true. However we don’t think about the consequences about using tanning salons.

Exposing our bodies to UV rays doesn’t only cause our skin to age prematurely it also creates a high risk of skin cancer. Magazines, TV programmes and skin products are constantly warning us about the dangers of tanning salons. So should we be held to blame if we do suffer injury from them?

Accidents at tanning salons can cause confusion within the injury law, because we should all be fully aware of the dangers of sun beds, after all we are constantly being warned. Yet at the same time they are still legal to use, and when we pay to use them the tanning salon is providing us with a service so should be responsible for our health and safety.

Accidents at Work

When we think about potential accidents at work we all think that it’ll never happen to us. We all hear of tragic accidents at work, but they all seem so far away from home. There have been several accidents in the news when people have been badly injured at work, and in some cases lost their lives due to the negligence of others.

There was recently a story about a man that was killed in an industrial machine whilst he was inside cleaning it. There were switches on the wall that were meant to prevent anyone been able to turn it on whilst someone was inside. However these trip switches failed, and another employee, who was unaware, turned on the machine when the other worker was inside it. The machine had a large industrial blade inside, which left the man with critical injuries and he later died in hospital.

That is one of the more extreme cases of accidents at work, wherever you work, whether it be in an office or on a building site you are faced with possible hazards on a day-to-day basis. It is your employer’s responsibility to carry out the necessary checks to ensure you are safe at work.

Injury Compensation

Injury compensation is a sum of money victims of accidents are awarded. It is usually obtained on their behalf by an independent law firm, who gather evidence to support their claim against the offending party. Anyone who has been injured in an accident that wasn’t his or her fault has a right to claim compensation.

Thousands of accidents take place every week, however people don’t always realise that they have a right to claim for injury compensation. That’s why the Injury Lawyers want to make everyone aware of all the kinds of accidents that can take place, and what those involved should due if they become injured due to the negligence of another party.

Medical Negligence

When we see third world countries on the news and what their lives are like we suddenly realise how lucky we are. They don’t have hospitals like we do, or the advanced technological machines that give medics a better insight into our illness. What they do have is, just like everyone else, is doctors and nurses who are doing everything they can to save their lives.

Throughout the world, no matter what culture you come from, people still show care to one another, not just because it’s their job to do so but also because it is human nature to care. Unfortunately along with the aspect of human nature that makes us care, there is also an aspect that makes mistakes, it is called human error, and unfortunately is unpreventable.

When mistakes are made in our hospitals it’s not because doctors or nurses deliberately decided that they were not going to spot the signs of an illness immediately it’s because they simply made a mistake. In the medical profession however, mistakes can be extremely costly. The smallest mistake can sometimes cost the life of a patient.

Accidents on Holiday

Everyone who loves going abroad on holiday knows that this is probably one of the highlights of our year. We book it months in advance and then spend the following months saving up our spending money, and paying the holiday off. Before we go on holiday there are several things we need to do, such as making sure our passport is in date, booking or sorting out travel to and form the airport arrangements and sorting out our travel insurance.

Travel insurance is extremely important if you’re leaving the country because depending on which package you buy it covers for everything from you plane being cancelled, your baggage going missing to any medical expenses that may need paying for whilst you’re out there.

That’s why it’s important that you make sure you buy your travel insurance from a secure website, and always read the small print. Some insurance packages may need activating before you go away. This may mean giving the company a call just to activate the account.

Insurance: LEI, Everything You Need to Know

Legal Expense Insurance (LEI) is an additional type of insurance that a lot of insurance companies will try to sell you on top of your existing insurance policy. This insurance guarantees that the company in question will pay your legal fees if you are unfortunate enough to become involved in an accident. This additional insurance fee usually sets you back an extra £15 to £20 a month.

What insurance companies forget to tell you is that if you do become involved in a car accident and it isn’t your fault then an injury law firm, such as the Injury Lawyers will retrieve you the compensation fees you deserve on a no win, no fee basis.

Some people live by the saying ‘if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is’. However, that’s not always the case. Here at the Injury Lawyers we will get you the compensation you deserve and every penny of it will go to you. We don’t take cuts from your payment; we simply recover the costs from the other side

Dog Bite Attacks Children

Dog bite attacks are constantly in the news in the UK, usually the most reported dog bites stories are those amongst children. Children don’t realise the dangers of some animals, they just want to be around them and play with them. In some cases it’s not even that, some animal attacks on children are unprovoked.

A story in the Daily Mail is about a four-year-old girl who was attacked whilst visiting a neighbour’s house in Liverpool. The four-year-old suffered facial injuries after an illegal pit-bull type dog attacked her. Police later seized the dog and its owner was arrested and charged under section one of the Dangerous Dogs Act. Pit Bull Terriers and related dog breeds are illegal in the UK.

A dog bite attack will be a traumatic time for any family, especially if the attack involves a child. Children are seen as the innocent party as they don’t understand the danger of some situations.

New Drivers

With all the commotion in the news about not letting new drivers use the roads at night, it’s about time someone asked the question whether new drivers are actually the ones to blame for road traffic accidents. I admit it is exciting when you first pass your driving test, and get in a car on your own, or with friends. However, at the same time it’s terrifying.

A lot of drivers will admit that the first few times they drove their first car they were scared. The responsibilities of their actions on the road were on them, they now have no one to blame if they make mistakes, and no one to help correct them if they do.

It’s also the thought that when carrying friends and family in your car, it is you that is responsible for their safety. They are putting their lives in your hands, therefore trusting you not to cause them injury through reckless driving. In most cases this means that new drivers are likely to drive with extra care and responsibility when on the roads. From my experience it’s the more experienced drivers that tend to show less care on the road.
