Compensation scheme set up for patients affected by surgeon Roger Bainton

The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust has set up a compensation fund for victims of skull surgeon Roger Bainton who used an experimental bone substitute and performed unnecessary treatment on patients, the BBC has confirmed.

Mr Bainton was suspended in 2013 and 88 cases were investigated with the General Medical Council finding at least 18 cases of people being harmed.

Failures at Furness Maternity Ward led to baby deaths

The government have released details of an investigation in to University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust where the deaths of mothers and babies have been attributed to failings at the maternity units.
